Yeast Infection

Yeast infections are usually caused by the candida fungus, a naturally occurring micro-organism found in the vaginal area of women.

Risk factors:

  • • Recent antibiotic use
  • • Diabetes
  • • Pregnancy
  • • Poor eating habits – particularly excess sugar intake
  • • Weakened immune system: stress and sleep deprivation

Common symptoms of yeast infections include:

  • • Itch
  • • Vaginal discharge
  • • Redness

Symptoms are more likely to occur during the week before your menstrual period and also common during menstruation. Please consult a doctor if you have any of the above symptoms.

Your doctor may give you topical medication like pessery or oral medication.
